African Fashion Week 2010 Day 2 – LaQuan Smith

Angelica Huwiler (Boutique owner and buyer): “The signature was not consistent. Given how the models struggled with the dresses on the ramp serves as proof that the dresses are not practical. He however, played with material and structure and created beautiful silhouettes.

Arietta Mujay: “I immediately thought of The Little Mermaid’s Ariel. It had a lovely Proenza Schouler/Balenciaga/Balmain resemblance but presented in a unique way. Loved the fish scales and the garments are very wearable.”

LaQuan Smith: “This collection is about the ocean: the sand, the shells (which can be seen in some of the shoulder constructions). It’s very flirty and New York.”
