Arise Television Network…….Coming Soon

Posted: July 24th, 2012

Over the weekend Dr. Oby Ezekwesili was honoured by Thisday Newspaper for her four-year tenure as vice president Africa region of the World Bank at a banquet dinner. CEO of Thisday Nduka Obaigbena used this  opportunity to announce that his next venture is to launch the Arise Television Network which will broadcast live news and information on Africa to viewers in major cities of the world. Mr Obaigbena said the following

“Ladies and gentlemen, before now you are aware that news and information on Africa has been broadcasted by Sky News, Aljazeera and CNN but THISDAY is set to alter the information landscape with Arise Television Network in about 180 days from now, broadcasting live news and information on Africa from major capital cities of the world to over 200 million global audience….From London where we have our operational licence, we will broadcast live in New Delhi, Johannesburg, Beijing, New York, Lagos and a host of other capital cities of the world,”

I sincerely hope that there will be significant content on fashion and culture in Africa considering that it is the foundation of the Arise brand.

Finally we’ll have something other than CNBC Africa. I really am not surprised that it is Mr Obiagbena who is taking this bull by the horn and doing what needs to be done. More details please.

I think CNBC Africa is doing a great job but they are more of a niche station. It would be good to see something different….but an African station based in London?? Certainly what gives CNBC Africa an edge is that they report on the ground from major cities around Africa. That makes their information more credible.

Aha! It is fine to have it in London just the same way CNN has big offices in Africa…We need to show those Western Countries the Beauty of Africa unlike their stations that show only the WORST of Africa. When they came for World Cup I hear some were shocked to almost fainting as they didn’t expect Africa to look any good. Jeff Koinange go go go go go….This guy can really be a reason to watch TV……He is an Asset to ANY TV station……If U R not watching Jeff Koinange on TV, You are not watching any TV. ATN where we are…. ALL AFRICAN, ALL THE TIME…..
