I went to Berlin in July to attend their S/S 11 fashion week.  On the whole I have to say that I found the shows very ‘run of the mill’ and too commercial for my liking.  For me a fashion show, is called a ‘show’ for a reason- and I expect my visual senses to be stimulated and entertained.  Fashion greats like the late McQueen, Vivienne Westwood and Galliano have this technique nailed down to an art and each season... 

Zany (fashion show guest): I like the collection and love the use of African fabric. It was truly African but with Western influences. David Tlale (Fashion Designer): Beautiful with fresh elements and really pretty. Nkensani (Stoned Cherrie Designer): This was the most exciting show we did. it was a reflection on the past ten years in this industry. We wanted to celebrate the sense of African expression and also owning the African look instead... 

Mokgadi Seabi (Lifestyle journalist): The ladies wear with frills was beautiful and everything a girl wants. The mens wear was also very good and i love that the shorts are getting shorter (always a pleasure to see). I also like the fact that they are introducing nude colours in underwear. Neil Doveton (Fashion Editor for Menshealth South Africa): Female collection: elegant, sophisticated and far from being vulgar. The male collection: Craig... 

Sharon Beck (Creative Director of Marie Claire South Africa) – I enjoyed the show. It was light, playful and his use of fabric is incredible. The shapes were also very interesting. Thabang (Fashion Show Guest) – the show was a flashback to the old times. His use of fabric is amazing but i found the style to be more fitting to my mother’s age group (50s) David West: I compared the modern day technology to another great era... 

Kwezi (show guest): Awesome, pretty and ethereal. Chris Viljoen (Creative Director for Elle South Africa): Malcolm and Christiaan really understand what femininity means. The pieces were soft, flowing and beautiful, all at the same time! Malcolm: this show was about introspection and a look back at what the brand has done – individually or as a team. We wanted it to be pretty, emotional and dreamy – not hard sexy! SHF credits text... 

Rochelle (stylist): Nice Pieces, not very innovative though. Liked the black with dotted prints… Chantel (fashion show guest) : I found the clothes very accessible and everyday wear-ready but I can still style it up for a cocktail party or whatever the case may be. Alet (student): Loved the collection. It was Fabulous, summery and fresh. Also very young and the prints were lovely and the outfits were well assmbled. The bags were fabulous! Sylvie (Brand Ambassador and Creative Director of L’Oreal – make-up sponsor) – Made me smile! I tweeted that it was the 1st collection where most of the audience members were smiling. It cheered me up and I would wear alll the pieces! It really proves... 

Justine Stafford (fashion blogger ifor1.co.za) – Simple and well constructed. I love the cut-away shoulders but would like a bit more conceptual stuff that are more 3D. Sylvia Candice (fashion show guest): The pale models were a perfect choice because they complimented the collection. I adored the show-stopper. Doreen Southwood: The collection was made to scream: “I love being a woman”. I wanted it to be wearable and very girly. SHF... 

Marisa (designer for Without) – very different from her other work, very bold and I loved the flowing lines. Very Quirky and fun – Refreshing! Girly (intern for Total Exposure, Fashion Week PR) – I liked it. Michelle Ludek: I am happy with the collection because it’s about the consumer. The collection evolved from what the consumer liked from the precious collections but with a bit more colour this time. SHF credits... 

Tshego (marketing student): Very appealing as a consumer. She had very nice everyday wear (away from the normal jeans and T-shirt). Shalwa Evans (fashion writer and critic): BLEGH! i only liked one dress in the whole collection. I found the material and design to be awkward and odd – very questionable fabrics.
