Day 2:
Hi, I must admit that it’s taking rather a little slower getting this diary incorporated to my daily routine. But, I’d like to think that I’m getting there.
As we inch closer and closer to fashion week, phones are starting to ring non-stop. Today, there was even a point when I needed to exhale so that I could get in touch with myself again. I’ve recently become my work and I have lost myself…..
Between sorting things out for the media briefing event and working on press releases, I must say that it’s been a bit manic at times. So today, I was pretty much on the phone with one of the stakeholders, going through the programme I had drafted.
When that was done, I then had to send it to all other people involved for approval. Now this is only just a programme I’m referring to. The same process had to be followed for the press releases, because you just cannot send out any document without a sign off from all involved. I ain’t complaining though, coz it’s my job!
After that, I looked through the designer profiles trying to find images or something striking for the designer of the day and the day’s designer was David West. I was somehow drawn to his Sexy Catholic collection and so I immediately put it up on AFI’s Official Facebook page, you must check it out and of course join the fanpage if you haven’t done so.
What you may not know is that I also run AFI’s twitter account (@AFI_sa), you must follow us if you need day-to-day update on everything fashion week related. I always try to spice it up for you.
Off course emails don’t stop just because I’m busy with something else. I then had to go back and reply to everything that needed my immediate attention. This includes following up on media interviews and getting confirmations for the week ahead.
Now you see, it’s not all just glitz and glamour, there’s hard work on the back end of all this and you’re moments away from experiencing all of it, vicariously through me……
