Countdown to Cape Town Fashion Week with Vista Kalipa 3

Alek Wek in Stoned Cherrie

Day 3:

This day began with an 08h30 meeting with client. With only a week away from the event, it was only logical that we got together to just catch up and see if we’re all still on the same page.

We discussed everything from the media briefing, launch party to the last day of fashion week and of course the official after party. The fabulous team at African Fashion International (AFI) has everything under control and we left the building feeling comfortable about what we’re going to be presenting in Cape Town.

There are some exciting elements to be introduced this year and when the time is right, I’ll be sure to share it with you.

Back in the office at about 11h00, I sat at my desk made phone calls to designers and media to confirm new appointments. You see the day-to-day routine seems to be broken up in to the following TO DO items.

  1. Emails (follow ups, replies, and new compositions)
  2. Phone calls (return calls, pitch new angles, follow-ups, call designers etc)
  3. Facebook and Twitter (update status, load new content and interact)
  4. Meetings and admin stuff.

Of course in the midst of all, there are queries regarding accreditation and models. I guess people don’t really understand how all this PR thing works, but I take it all with a big smile, complete with a full set of pearly white 32 teeth. It’s my job and I love it!
