As Junior Fashion Editor of Cosmopolitan Magazine South Africa, Lilian Osagie comes up with the newest and most interesting concepts in fashion; educates ladies on what to wear and how to wear them. She is also a fashion writer for the magazine and constantly lets people know what is on trend locally and internationally, what international designers are up to and how we can transform runway outfits into a reality and finally, how people should dress according to their body proportion and shape. Lilian really enjoys her job and all that comes with it. She shares with SHF

8.00 am: jump out of bed, brush my teeth, have a shower, choose what I am going to wear from my closet, dress up, do my hair and makeup, have my early morning devotion and leave for work.

8.30am: my assistant comes into the office, gives me my schedule for the day. I make all my important calls, read my e-mails, start working and prepping for my next fashion photo shoots.

11.00 am: I am in the office doing admin jobs and trying not to get on Facebook and Blackberry Messenger, but oh yes, I tweet while I work.

1.00 pm: its lunch time so I meet up with my girlfriends for lunch and we chat and eat in one of our favourite restaurants right across the road from our offices in Sandton.

2.00 pm: back to the office, reply all my e-mails, make important telephone calls and browse my favourite fashion websites and blogs (with SHF being one of my newest addictions).

3.00 pm: Its time to go sourcing in the mall. We go from shop to shop, getting all the looks I need for my shoots. I like dressing up for this because when random people see me in the mall looking fab, with my glasses on, assistant by my side and us carrying a lot of expensive designer plastic bags, they think I am some celebrity —SHOPPING! If only they knew!

4.00 pm: still working and with the flexibility of my job, I sit down to read celebrity gossip, go through my favourite magazines and go in and out from afternoon meetings with colleagues, designers, models, etc. After which I sit on the balcony and enjoy some fresh air for few minutes and probably have a cup of coffee, tea, juice or water.

5.00 pm: leave the office and drive home in traffic

5.30 pm: am home now, head straight to the kitchen because I am hungry now, make myself a good meal, put on my TV and see what’s happening in the news… preferably E! News. Then flip through FTV, TSN and my latest obsession- African Magic.

6.00pm: its Gym time! Luckily, its ten minutes away from my house so I stroll there with my boyfriend. Work out for and hour or less and listen to my favourite songs on my Ipod while I am checking out all those babes with flat tummies and praying I get there soon.

7.10pm: back home again, have a shower, grab my phone and start chatting with all my friends. Also check what’s happening on Facebook and see who and who has been tweeting the whole day.

7.45pm: back to my lounge, call my siblings and parents (when I have airtime), watch African Magic again but I never finish a movie because it has part one, two and many times three, which makes me feel I am wasting my time doing nothing. Btw: I call up my big sister who lives down the road from me and we chat over the phone for hours (like we haven’t seen in ages).

8.00pm: feel like going somewhere to chill so I call up few friends and we all go out for drinks.

9.30pm: time to go home because tomorrow is a working day. Get home, nothing much to do, watch TV when I have the energy to, make sure I look through my personal ‘to do list’ and see if I did all I had to do for the day. Change to my nightwear, lie down on my bed, get on my BB and, chat about my day, etc to my best friends in Nigeria. Put my phone on silence, otherwise, I wouldn’t be able to sleep with the pings, etc, and then I pray and SLEEP!!!

Wow. How great to be paid doing what you love. I recently took myself off to London to do some courses in styling and fashion journalism. I completed a diploma in fashion design a few years ago and would love to get into the industry doing some work experience for a stylist or magazine.
