Glossy Launch Party

On 10th June, Glossy magazine had their first official launch party.  The party was also made to coincide with the exhibition that Glossy was hosting which featured some of the best work that photographers and illustrators had done for the magazine.

Who is ‘Glossy’? ‘Glossy is an online fashion magazine straight out of London, where style, celebrity and pop culture mix.  It is targeted at unique young women and offers fabulous fashionista’s from around the globe, the perfect mix of cutting edge editorials, insightful articles and interviews with emerging fashion superstars and established fashion mavericks.’

Where was the party held? 10 Gales Gallery Arch 10, Gales Garden, Bethnal Green, London.

What was there to eat? Scrumdiddlyumptious cupcakes.  The icing on the cakes were the cute little ‘g’s’ that adorned each cupcake.

What was there to drink? A selection of beers, spirits and mixers, wine, juices and energy drinks.

How were guests entertained during the party? On the ground floor fashion peeps could marvel at the images on the walls by the Glossy photographers and illustrators, in one of the backroom’s there were makeup artists (Lei Karim and Emily Mergaert) and a hair stylist (Yuga) offering free makeovers and advice.  There was also a visual graphics backroom which showed highlighted clips from past Glossy interviews, street style shots, editorials and so on.  Upstairs, there were designers selling  clothes and jewellery as well as a fabulous selection of vintage shoes (Miu Miu, Chloe and Dior), bags and jewellery (Vivienne Westwwod).

Any exciting spottings? Word on the street was that a Vogue (UK) editor made an appearance.

Any random spottings? A man in an ill-fitting bog-standard 9-5 suit looking veeeery out of place.

Tunes we bopped to? DJ Sarah Young kept our bodies movn’ and groovn’ to classic tooooones like ‘OPP’, ‘Let’s get married (remix)’,  ’Return of the Mack’ and ‘Big Pimpn’.

Highlight of the party? For me there were two highlights- one was seeing the inspiring range of outfits that people put together for the party and the second visual treat was being introduced to a fabulous jewellery label called ‘Lisovsky Jewellery’, designed by Alina Jessipovich.  I fell crazy in love with her fabulous 3D rings which showed a remarkable in-depth understanding and appreciation of metals, colourful stones, fairy tales, recyled materials, jewels and childhood whimsy.
