September 14, 2011, screening kicked off in Port Harcourt on the 25th & 26th of July, 28th & 29th of July in Abuja and 2nd & 3rd of August 2011 in Lagos.
Port Harcourt:
Day 1 kicked off with screening for the MTN Young Model of the Year Competition. The ladies came in full force to strut their stuff in front of the three man panel of judges – Wadami Amolegbe of HauteFashionAfrica.com, Kester Osahenye of MTN and Omoyemi Akerele of Style House. The judges were on the lookout for fresh talent, someone who would be able to represent the brand internationally and be knowledgeable about the fashion industry. The model must be passionate, a natural, intelligent, commercial and in the words of Omoyemi Akerele “make you say WHOA!” A tall order indeed.
Day 2, was dedicated to interviews for the MTN British Council Young Creative Entrepreneur of the Year but the judges decided to give the models and designers who turned up a chance to audition. While the crop of models that turned up were relatively more prepared dressing than the models from the previous day, unfortunately, none were able to wow the judges on their inherent passion for fashion.
