SAFARI REMIX
20 March 2010 sees the launch of Kelechi Odu’s new menswear collection, stocked exclusively at Temple Muse Lagos. Entitled Safari Remix, the designer re-imagines the art of dressing
for the man in the tropics.
Formal wear’s sharp and simple silhouette is softened in butter soft cottons and lightweight linens. Sartorial sensibilities are revisited with classic palettes of caramel, khaki and white injected with a sharp, slick dose of twenty first century spice.
From work to play, the Kelechi Odu man will be a vision, defined beyond the herd. Gin and tonics in hand and a small empire to run are an optional extra for the man whose style remains cool when temperatures rise.
Kelechi Odu is a Nigerian designer and architect. Inspired by his mother, he started his eponymous fashion house in 2001 focusing initially on women’s wear. Collections were critically and commercially well received and he showed in New York Fashion Week and
has been stocked at Dernier-Cri and Cloak in New York. Safari Remix is his first full men’s wear collection, having created bespoke pieces for clients over the years, and is his first to be
stocked in Nigeria. Very much the contemporary visionary, Odu believes that when a man dresses he is looking for pieces that combine structure and fabric effortlessly, reflect his mood and evoke the message he wishes to send out to the world. He is passionate about Nigerian designers being at the forefront of the fashion landscape and communicating their aesthetic globally. Odu divides his time between New York and Lagos
