Pastel colours, beading, floral applique, embellishment and prints on luxury silk fabrics, characterises a collection that fuses elements from different cultures into a story that retains the designer’s preference for classic silhouettes. Mimi Plange’s inspiration for SS 12 defines the collection – “I wanted to take the Eastern florals of spring, the traditional dress of the Himba, the Victorian dress of the Herero, and blend them together into something modern. Despite the current global turmoil, the future is continually blooming.”
SS 2012 is set to be a promising season for Mimi Plange – with a Mimi Plange/ Manolo Blahnik collaboration in place, endorsement by Andre Leon Talley, Bethann Hardison and support from other known faces in the industry, it’s safe to suggest that Mimi Plange has developed and will flourish like a flower in the desert this spring.
